Three rural schools in Northumberland

Children in three rural schools in Northumberland will be going on an adventure at their local library as part of our BBC Novels that Shaped Our World Project library partnership, which focuses on the theme of adventure in March.

Librarians from the Northumberland Libraries team will visit the three schools taking part during February, to inspire children with tasters from a box of exciting adventure novels both classic and contemporary ready to create their own character puppets at workshops in their local libraries in March.

They will highlight a range of exciting and engaging adventure stories from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island to Katherine Rundell's The Explorer, which are available to borrow from Northumberland libraries in both book and digital format .

On the three dates in March the school groups will visit their local library to create their own bespoke adventure themed character puppets with the team from Life and Limb Puppets, a Newcastle based puppet company.
