Arts and culture have a lasting impact on people’s lives and the communities they live in. Public libraries understand how to create a quality cultural experience and are often the first place that children and young people experience cultural events. No other public body has the same reach across the UK’s most diverse local communities and the flexibility to respond to local needs. Reaching people who do not normally take part in the cultural activity and helping them to develop a love of and appreciation of the arts is at the core of our Culture Offer.
Goal: More people have access to quality and diverse cultural experiences and events through libraries, especially those less likely to access arts and culture.
To offer a quality and diverse cultural experience in public libraries through a clear, consistent, and accessible programme of cultural activities and events
To collaborate with arts and culture organisations to reach local communities and groups of people who do not usually participate in the arts
To ensure children, young people and their families are able to take part in a wide range of cultural experiences.
