Making the Case for Reading: Using the Why Reading Matters Toolkit Locally
A National Year of Reading webinar
Libraries are uniquely placed to deliver against some of the biggest challenges facing local authorities through their work with reading – but only if we can clearly articulate our impact. The National Year of Reading provides a significant opportunity to really promote our offer to key stakeholders.
Developed by The Reading Agency, Why Reading Matters: A Local Authority Toolkit brings together clear evidence, key messages and practical tools to help libraries and their partners make the case for reading during the National Year of Reading and beyond.
This practical webinar, delivered by The Reading Agency and Libraries Connected, will guide library services through how to use the toolkit to make the case for reading locally. The session will explore how to align evidence with local priorities, address common concerns from partners and decision-makers, and use real-world examples to strengthen advocacy conversations.
The session will include:
- A walkthrough of the Reading Advocacy Toolkit
- Guidance on adapting national evidence to local data and priorities
- A library case study
- Interactive breakout sessions to apply the toolkit to your own context
Participants will leave with increased confidence and a clear, practical action they can take to advocate for reading in their area.
Please note that this webinar will be recorded. If you cannot make the scheduled date, please still register to ensure you receive the recording link after the session.
