Webinar: Arts Council England’s The Role of the Public Library in Combating Misinformation and Disinformation: A Review and Action Plan
Join Arts Council England for a session exploring its recently published report, The Role of the Public Library in Combating Misinformation and Disinformation.
Public libraries are well placed to help address misinformation and disinformation in UK society, but before this study there was limited insight into current practice. Arts Council England commissioned Professor Steven Buchanan and Professor David McMenemy to review the role of public libraries in England in tackling these issues. Their research included the first national survey on mis and disinformation of public library staff in the UK.
This webinar will present the survey findings and explore the report’s key recommendations for how the public library sector can respond to the impact of misinformation and disinformation.
Speakers:
- Luke Burton – Arts Council England
- Professor Steven Buchanan – University of Stirling
- Professor David McMenemy – University of Glasgow
Please note that this webinar will be recorded - if you cannot make the session, please still sign up if you would like to receive the link to the recording afterwards.
