Webinar: Creating Pathways into Public Library Careers | Shared Ambitions Workforce Series
Join us to hear from two library services using innovative approaches to develop the future public library workforce, as part of our Shared Ambitions workforce development series.
Our speakers are:
- Angela Huisman, Head of Libraries and Resident Contact, Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
- Zoinul Abidin, Head of Universal Services, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
Angela will share how Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Libraries have developed a volunteering programme for young people and embedded it as a pathway into employment. She will discuss the programme's design, its impact on participants and how volunteering has become an important part of the service's wider workforce strategy.
Zoinul will present Barking and Dagenham's success in creating multiple routes into library careers through initiatives including the Kickstart programme, apprenticeships and volunteering. He will share practical examples of how these pathways have supported recruitment and workforce development, including a case study of a volunteer progressing into employment as a Hub Officer.
The webinar will offer useful insights for library leaders and managers looking to develop their workforce, attract new talent and create inclusive opportunities for people to build careers in public libraries, helping to turn the ambitions of Shared Ambitions: Developing the Future Public Library Workforce into action.
