Webinar: Local Government Reorganisation In Practice

Libraries Connected and The National Archives are jointly delivering a series of webinars to heads of service in the library and archives sectors.
The third webinar in the series we will focus on people who have experienced local government reorganisation, who will share their insights into the process, key actions and top tips.
Our speakers are:
- Richard Foster, Service Manager – Libraries and Community Hubs, Cumberland Council. Richard led his service through LGR two years ago, and will share insights into their planning process and how they have sustained key elements of shared service across the two new authorities.
- Sam Johnston, County Archivist, Dorset Council. Sam will reflect on how the archive service has continued with a joint service arrangement post LGR.
- Sally Starkey, Libraries Development Manager, and Paul Newman, Archives and Local Studies Manager, Cheshire West and Chester. Sally and Paul will talk about what has and hasn't worked in the 16 years since LGR in Cheshire.
The webinar will include a Q&A session with your chance to ask our speakers for advice and further insights.
Our two previous webinars covered an introduction to the timescale and process for LGR, and how The National Archives and DCMS will support services to comply with the Public Records Act and Libraries Act as they work through LGR. Recordings of these webinars are available on request.
The next webinar in June will explore different models for joint service arrangements across authorities.
Discussion at the webinars is helping us identify key issues facing libraries and archives, which will inform some written guidance we will commission this summer.
