Webinar: Self access in Sutton’s Libraries

Self access technology enables customers to use libraries and access library services and facilities without requiring staff presence. This webinar will share how Sutton Council successfully installed self access across its public library network, increasing opening hours whilst making savings. Find out how the Council prepared for self access, including conducting a pilot, launching a public consultation, and engaging with library staff.
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Barry Lewis, will share how libraries in Sutton continue to thrive at a time when other councils are closing libraries.
The Chief Executive for the London Borough of Sutton, Helen Bailey, will share how libraries have supported the Council’s corporate plan, which is underpinned by the Medium Term Financial Strategy 2022-2027, describing how the Council intends to deliver its priorities within the current financial context and with a focus on long term financial sustainability.
Frontline library managers will share the journey they embarked on to launch self access, and will reflect on the first year of self access in Sutton’s libraries.
There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.
This event is open to all library staff (or relevant Council staff), senior leaders and Councillors.
