Libraries encouraged to promote ‘Misinformation UNMasked’ campaign
The NHS England Knowledge and Library Services Team has been working with South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust on ‘Misinformation UNMasked’, a set of tools to help the public navigate its way around health misinformation. Libraries are now encouraged to use and promote the resources.
The work includes the development of a series of three animations to help people to spot the signs of health misinformation online. These are available to all library services and can be accessed here: Health Information - Knowledge and Library Services.
Resources were designed based on views of the public, NHS and public library staff. Libraries can also access communications materials to promote the materials.
Joanne Naughton, NHS Library and Knowledge Services Development Manager at NHS England, said:
“Public libraries provide a safe space for all to access health information online and library staff have a key role to play in addressing health misinformation by signposting people to high quality health information.”
