Libraries have never been needed more by their communities. Last year we had over 250 million visits - more than all other parts of the culture sector out together. We are innovating what we offer to the public, with new projects and services and provide the essential digital gateway for many people.
However, the environment for libraries is challenging as their traditional source of income - direct local authority funding - has reduced over past years, and many libraries would like to develop a mixed model of funding to give them the stability to develop and innovate their services over the coming years.
We are about to start a programme of skills development across the library sector and we are looking for an administrator and a project menager to help us to deliver this. The aim of the programme is to give libraries the skills they tell us they need to create long term sustainable funding plans that brings together income from all sources, and crucially to work together to put these plans into practice.
