What does quality mean for a modern library service?

Friday, 21 August, 2020 - 14:00

As part of the consultation for our accreditation programme we hosted an online event for library users and supporters called What does quality mean for a modern library service?

We heard from three speakers: Tim Coates, Philippa Bryant and Jonathan Robinson who offered their own unique perspective on different ways of looking at the question.

We also benefitted from a huge range of ideas from the people who attended. These ranged from the question of “what is core to a library service?”, to debates about how quality is measured and how data on quality is collected, used and deployed.

Overall, the essential importance of libraries as physical spaces at the heart of communities, open and accessible to all, was the emerging consensus from the session.

The recording of the session, along with the thoughts, comments and questions posed in the chat, can be accessed here.
