'Every public library is as good as the best'
We have secured a grant of £128,456 from Arts Council England to clearly define what a high-quality library service looks like.
We aim to develop and deliver an authoritative, sector-led scheme to help libraries in England to meet the needs of their local communities.
We will work closely with the Arts Council and CILIP to develop the new framework. Shared Intelligence will deliver the consultation and co-creation for this project to ensure that we develop a practical scheme that works as a service development tool.
We now need help from you, our members, to form a Reference Group for this work. We are seeking up to 20 people, in leadership or development roles, with current experience of service delivery.
We would need you to commit to attending five afternoon meetings and participate in discussion in-between. The dates of the first meetings are Tuesday 21 April and Tuesday 7 July. Venues will be confirmed once we know the geographic spread of participants, but reasonable travel expenses will be met.
If you, or a member of your staff, wish to be involved please express interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on Monday 24 February 2020. If you are not a head of service, then you will need their approval before you apply.
In your expression of interest, please include:
- An outline of your current role
- A brief description of the library service that you work in
- A short paragraph summarising the knowledge or experience that you feel able to contribute to the group.
We are pleased to also be working with The British Library and The National Archives on this project.
