Open Access Libraries

Tuesday, 3 October, 2023 - 14:30

This webinar explored how open access technologies have been working across the UK.

Guest speakers from libraries operating Open Access technologies provided case studies and best practice on how the innovations have been working for them alongside practical hints and tips on the key things to consider for others looking to introduce similar developments.

Open Access technologies allow library members access to their library during set hours when staff aren't present. Hannah Richens from Barnet and Jackie Taylor-Smith from Kent talked about their library service's journey with Open Access. Then there were questions at a panel session with Hannah, Jackie, and library colleagues from Northern Ireland, Leicestershire, and Gloucestershire. This session was aimed at library managers who are looking to implement or hear how others have been using Open Access technologies, but anyone working in public libraries was welcome to join.

The session can now be watched back in full on our YouTube channel.
