Summer of Reading: Library Spotlight Day

The Summer of Reading is a shared programme of free partner events and resources to support families and teachers to keep children reading over the summer.

Coordinated by The Reading Agency, the Summer of Reading brings together over 20 organisations across the reading, literacy and cultural sectors to inspire families to share the love of reading for pleasure to build skills, increase confidence, support educational attainment and improve wellbeing. The Reading Agency hope to reach thousands of families across the UK and share the proven power of reading, supporting them through the challenges of the pandemic and Covid-19 recovery.

Each week the Summer of Reading will highlight a different range of events and activities. Starting on 28 June and continuing on 26 July and 30 August, the Summer of Reading will spotlight the work of libraries in promoting and enabling reading for pleasure. We would like as many libraries as possible to shout about the events you are holding by tagging @readingagency on Twitter using #SummerOfReading.

After the first library spotlight day is over, make sure you keep checking in with the Summer of Reading page on The Reading Agency website as they will be posting new book and reading-related content regularly.
